I don’t know a lot, if anything about this project or the film that it’s for but considering the source material, cast and director, it sounds like it could be a pretty strong film.
“Title sequence for a film based on the Kurt Vonnegut novel. Made with Tal Moskovich.
Our goal was to create a visual interpretation of a phenomenon in space known as chrono-synclastic infundibulum, which is defined by Vonnegut as ‘those places … where all the different kinds of
truth fit together.’”
Ohio-based (yeah go Ohio!) Space Junk is cranking out some pretty good-lookin’ motion and animation work including the above piece for Magic The Gathering.
They say you need to know how to do ‘everything’ these days to fit into the current creative job market, especially on a global scale. Whether or not you actually believe or buy into that bullshit is probably left to your own personal experience. Talent finds a way to shine regardless of the medium. Taking all of that into account, Sebastian Onufszak is a creative of the times. He practically can do everything and is pretty damn good at all of it too. The even crazier thing is that he keeps getting better at just about everything he is doing and you can see that in his updated portfolio.
Powerhouse motion studio Buck relaunched last week with some spectacular new work. We spent nearly an hour last week just discussing and trying to figure out how they produced the above piece produced for Good Books. They are a huge source of inspiration to a lot of studios right now and have consistently cranked out stellar work.
…on a side note I apologize for the lack of posts lately. We are currently working on a big merger with our production studio and it’s been a little crazy lately on the ‘work’ side of things. I promise to get the ‘blog’ side back in business this week.
I’ve been insanely impressed by the fledgling motion studio Diestro in the past few months. They literally kicked the door down when they first posted their portfolio and they are elevating their broadcast work to that rare echelon that might daringly be described as ‘art’. Their recent update is a testament to that statement.
Aaron Kemnitzer sent us his latest effort for Cool Kids new track ‘Rush Hour Traffic’. And of course anytime a solid motion/3d crew hook up with one of our favorite groups you better believe we gonna post them shits.
Direction: Joey Garfield
Art Direction: Elliot Lim
2D Animation: Elliot Lim, Jason Esser
3D Animation: Aaron Kemnitzer

I just returned the week before last from a 3 week trip to Brazil. My wife’s family (in case you don’t know) is from Northern Brazil. Teresina to be exact. So I spent a few weeks there along with a trip to Parnaiba and a few days at the beach for Carnival in Luís Correia. Yes it was nice.
I am always curious as to what is playing on TV when I am on the flipside of the equator and immediately noticed some standout branding spots for TLC and after a little research uncovered they were of course done by none other than Brazilian motion designer Nando Costa.
This is the official video for Warsnare off of Eris’s recently released EP. The video was directed and animated by Visitor with additional modelling and animation by David Eglinton.
Iván Flugelman A.K.A. VVSVS has relocated to Berlin where he has started his own business. He already has an adept body of work to show including some work for notable clients like Subaru and Lady Gaga. It’s a nice combination of solid art direction, 3d and graphic design.
Some absolutely amazing c4d work from Daihei Shibata, who describes this video simply as ‘Synchbody for PMLS_IV_D from Jade Fib EP by Yaporigami’.
In addition to creating some killer hair dynamics and a dope video that explores some very current themes of human representation in a simulated environment, Daihei also very generously makes his entire c4d project and audio files available for download. (Japanese plugs in required)
“A montage of works from the past year, ranging from live performance visuals with renowned VJ Vello Virkhaus to interactive installations for our agency and client partners.” – Leviathan
Theadore Daley’s talented hands have touched many a great project for many a great motion design studios. His portfolio has been refreshed with some visually stunning work that is immediately recognizable to anyone who has recently turned on the television or plugged in a video game.
Naked instructed me to ‘ignore the music’ and watch the visuals but they are kinda part and parcel with one another when it comes to this sorta thing. I actually think they work rather well together but I will also admit that the visuals are definitely the more amazing of the pair. Bright, bold, neon and beautiful are words that are easily put to use.
Stash has posted their best videos from 2011 and if you lean more toward the motion, animation, 3d and broadcast side of the creative business, it’s an inspiring list to pick through.
04/12 ZIMMERMAN FACES MURDER In a case we’ve been following closely there is finally what we think is some good news to report. George ZImmerman, the man accused of killing the innocent teenager Trayvon Martin has been taken into custody and charged with second degree murder. At last there is some justice.
12/16 HITCHENS DIES Outspoken author and pundit Christopher Hitchens passed away yesterday at the age of 62 after succombing to a long battle with cancer. His honest and bravado opinion that rarely favored one side versus the other but was instead often a cry for ‘reason’ will be missed.
11/23 BURZYNKSI CLINIC Is there an alternative, non-toxic treatment for cancer? Dr. Stanislaw R. Burzynski seems to think so and has been experiencing higher rate of success than the current accepted practice of treating cancer.
11/23 TALKING TO MACHINES “What can machines tell us about being human? This hour of Radiolab, Jad and Robert meet humans and robots who are trying to connect, and blur the line.” Listen, read and learn here.
