I am still working hard, bit by bit at building my illustration portfolio. I was really obsessed with deep sea creatures last year and spent some time doing some very detailed graphite drawings of squids. I have always found them fascinating. This was created using one of those graphite sketches. More to come. You can see a closeup in the Work/Illustration section of the site.

Haha. Yeah, I have been talking to reps lately and they say my biggest problem is that I am a ‘jack of all trades’ and the illustration industry hates that shit. So, I am just working on my drawings skills again and trying to hammer down a style slowly but surely. It’s been great just using my own pencil drawings again as my imagery. I should have been doing that all along.

When I have amassed enough illustrations, I am going to pull them off this site and start a new site and work under a different alias. Hopefully that will attract what I need in terms of a rep. Otherwise I will just do it my damned self.

Not having a recognizable style helps me a lot with selling prints because there is something for everyone but it definitely hurts me on the finer art/illustration style.

Don’t be surprised actually if this changes a little bit next week. I just wanted to get it up on the site quick to show people I am still working away, but I would still like to experiment just a hair more with this to see if there is anything else I can do to push it. If it changes, I will update all the instances of this image. I have about 3 more of these sketches out there but this is one of the only ones that incorporates a human element (the eyes).
