Windows of New York

Comments Off on Windows of New YorkGraphic Design

The Windows of New York project is a weekly illustrated fix for an obsession that has increasingly grown in me since chance put me in this town. A product of countless steps of journey through the city streets, this is a collection of windows that somehow have caught my restless eye out from the never-ending buzz of the city. This project is part an ode to architecture and part a self-challenge to never stop looking up.

I am a Graphic Designer living in New York City. I’m into all kinds of visual things, sharing good stuff with great people, and apparently, staring creepily at windows.”

A project by Jose Guizar.

CYBORG FOUNDATION | Rafel Duran Torrent from Focus Forward Films on Vimeo.

I wanna be a cyborg to. Do you?

“CYBORG FOUNDATION is the Grand Jury Prize Winner in the $200,000 GE/FOCUS FORWARD Filmmaker Competition. Watch the winners at focusforwardfilms.com/winners.

Neil Harbisson was born with achromatopsia, a rare condition that causes complete colour blindness. In 2004, Harbisson and Adam Montandon developed the eyeborg, a device that translates colours into sounds.
Harbisson has been claimed to be the first recognized cyborg in the world, as his passport photo now includes his device. In 2010, Neil Harbisson and Moon Ribas created the Cyborg Foundation, an international organization to help humans become cyborgs. The foundation has also experimented with other sensory devices, including an “earborg,” which translates sound into color, and a “speedborg,” which allows people to detect movement through electronic earrings that vibrate.”

I absolutely loved loved loved this little animated piece. The poetry, the reading and the frenzied kinetic animation style are all right on tone. It’s fantastic in every way possible and genuinely inspiring if you are involved in animation.

Paper Age from Ken Ottmann on Vimeo.

I’ll be perfectly honest and say that I don’t really agree with the premise here since I am a die-hard print man but it’s a well-done and clever animation none-the-less.

Researching character rigging, polygon reduction, depth of field and motion blur in Cinema 4D.

CADAVER – A bittersweet love story (7 min) from Jonah D. Ansell on Vimeo.

This is well done all around and I was amazed at the acting talent represented. It’s got a raw and rugged styling to the animation and feels a little Tim Burton inspired.

Caterpillar

Comments Off on CaterpillarMovies

CATERPILLAR from David Field on Vimeo.

Wow. I have been consistently blown away by some of the content being thrown out there on Vimeo lately. This was no exception. As a matter of fact this is so exceptional that I guess it is an exception. Well worth your time.

“Finding your way can mean losing your mind in the process…

An isolated elderly woman, in desperate need of stimulation, conjures an infestation of silk-spinning caterpillars, thus leading her to a mind-bending epiphany.

‘Caterpillar’ is a cerebral drama, filmed in the historical Wynkoop House, famous for housing George Washington. The crew consists of highly esteemed artists working across a wide spectrum of disciplines. This includes special effects artist, Ben Bornstein (300, The Fighter), visual effects artist Greg Silverman (Black Swan), and editor, Corey Bayes (Haywire, Contagion, The Informant, Che). From storyline through production, Caterpillar is an ode to the creative process. This film is a must-see for anyone who has ever submitted to their imagination and felt transformed by an idea.”

The Circular Economy

Comments Off on The Circular EconomyMotion Graphics

Our studio wants a project like this.

“Beakus director Mr Binns created this beautiful and stylish promo for the Ellen MacArthur Foundation.
We were asked to convey a complex idea – how business and consumers should change their habits to an ecology in which we re-generate all the materials we use – in a bright, fun, and engaging way. Mr Binns designed a pared back but cleverly though out world of technology and work in which to tell the story of rotund worker bees living in a new, fresh, Circular Economy.
Go learn more about the idea, and why it’s making headway in business and politics here: ellenmacarthurfoundation.org

We Buy Your Kids: Update

Comments Off on We Buy Your Kids: UpdateGraphic Design

We Buy Your Kids have been on fire lately in my opinion. They have found their style and nestled themselves firmly and confidently within it. They recently did an entire show for the Mondo Gallery in Austin, Texas and I managed to snag a few of the posters. They didn’t get their fair share of love from the poster collecting scene in my opinion but it’s a crowd relatively unaccustomed to contemporary graphic design which is definitely where WBYK leans. I dig it. I dig it big time.
