Round 6 is a made up video game trailer for a nonexistent game created by Snowball Studios. It’s a highly effective exercise and self-promotional piece to be sure. The attention to detail is staggering and it’s an impressive bit of 3D animation accomplished in a highly cinematic style.

Nokta is a self-initiated experimental project created by Onur Senturk. It is an an improvisation of organic pieces considering themes like power, chance and luck. It’s also very other-worldly, trippy as hell and super cool.

Bay area native Alex Varanese has an unusual style all his own. I have seen his work before and posted it in prior versions of the blog but he has been staying busy and recently updated with a new series of experimental typographical layouts. He obviously has a fetish for the color orange, that much is easy to figure out and he has a thing for cassette tapes and the 80s. He is also very good at rendering 3d type and image. The one thing that you might not pick up on right away until spending a little time surfing around his site is that he also has a great sense of humor. He may or may not know that he is also a good writer. What I’m trying to say is this guy’s got some skills and I am picking up on what he is layin’ down.

Skyskraper is one of those agencies of the future that serves as a bit of a go-between for the creative agency to final placement and execution. I am learning a lot this year, out of necessity with the future of this website about media, media buying and media strategy. Skyskraper is a digital media agency responsible for helping execute on some of those rather intangible projects that we creatives sometimes spew out in concepting sessions but have no idea how to pragmatically realize in the physical world.

One such project they recently helped Flourish Creative complete was a projected 3D advent calendar for Google Chrome displayed on the facade of the Westfield building in London. The image was projected to align perfectly with the tiles in the facade which is not an easy thing to do. The end result was pretty impressive. This kind of partnership and companies like this are definitely something to keep an eye out for in the future of our business. You would think the capability to produce something like this would still fit under the roof of a typical ad agency, but as technology continues to move forward by leaps and bounds every year more and more agencies are turning toward digital media agencies to execute on concepts and strategy.

I am loving the look of Skyskraper’s blog as well. That tightly kerned Helvetica is looking sharp.

I am really digging this little experimental motion piece titled, ‘Metempsychosis’ from motionographer Alain Lores. I would love to see something like this utilizing typography. You can see more of Alain’s work here.

The bright and shiny minds behind Universal Everything have created a new ident campaign for the relaunch of AOL. The videos were meant for content to be broadcast through web video, mobile, digital campaigns and outdoor LED displays. When it comes to video, it is all about providing content these days. Is this approach a foreshadowing of what will happen to the production of television commercials in the future? Regardless, it’s gorgeous visual art once again from Universal Everything.

Designer and illustrator David Mascha sent in a link to his portfolio tonight. He has updated with both a new website and new work. The website is about as smooth and no frills as a Flash site can get. It’s function first, showcasing his unique digital illustration work with a modern contemporary flair that really sets off his style. His illustration work is a lot of fun to look at but he also has some nice typography work happening in his portfolio that serves as an extra bonus. Good work.

Romanian designer/illustrator Alex Beltechi is doing some interesting dimensional type-as-image work. Yes, it is highly digital (and I know some folks don’t like that), but it is also expertly rendered.
