I Love Dust was approached earlier this year by the Cartoon Network to produce something memorable for their 20th anniversary. What followed is this 2 minute mind-melting bonanza featuring original music by Mad Decent and nearly every character who’s ever moved across the screen since Cartoon Network began airing content. It’s most definitely I Love Dust’s crowning animated achievement thus far.
I love Dust was recently in touch to let me know that they updated their portfolio in a big way with a wealth of new design, illustration and animation work. They continue to inspire and know that my love for them guarantees a post. Oh how I wish I was across the pond so I could knock on their door and try to see if they’d take in a wayward designer/illustrator like me.
MK12 posted a strange, mysterious and dark animated short not long ago that leaves you hanging for more of their fantastic work.
This is a short animated film by Noam Sussman that is debuting online exclusively at Cartoon Brew’s 3rd Student Animation Festival. These students are eating our lunch these days. Amazing work.

Jake Fried actually hand drew this entire animation using ink and white out. Keep that in mind as the barrage of imagery begins to unfold. It’s wild. You can find out more about his work at inkwood.net.
Motion Designer Scott Benson has released his reel for 2012 and there is some pretty good looking stuff happening in there.
Ugo Gattoni has some subtle and beautifully rendered work in his portfolio that he can translate seamlessly from page to screen an on into full animation.
David Fain produced this stop motion piece using a lot of editing, ingenuity and little green plastic army men moving to the accompaniment of an instrumental track by the band “Pink Martini”.
I Love Dust (still one of my all time favorite studios) was nice enough to email me some of their recent animation work for GE in Asia. The spots are anchored by the concept of Ancient myths colliding with the technology of today. The spots were directed by Golden Wolf and produced by ilovedust for GE China via TBWA SHanghai.
I was surprised to discover a lot of this work is being animated directly out of Photoshop which is something we’ll be looking into this year as a studio for sure.
Thanks for the email Ingi. I sure hope to visit you in the UK someday soon. Keep up the amazing work I Love Dust. You guys continue to inspire.

This is a surreal and super psychedelic experimental 3d animation piece completed entirely by Russian motion designer and animator Dxmiq. It’s trippy to say the least and made me wonder what a director like Kubrick would’ve been able to do with abstract visuals like this if he were still around today.

None other than the ever-influential and almighty studio I Love Dust have updated recently with a new showreel for 2012. I don’t hide my love for this studio. They are one of my favorites.
Jordan Scott was asked by Wattsmedia to generate an explanatory video explaining what they do. Yes the dreaded 2 minute explanatory video. Well this my friends is the kind of work you do when given that task. Great stuff.
