There is some nice things happening in the Photostream of Luke’s Beard. My guess is that his name is Luke and that he has a beard.
Sidenote: My brother’s name is Luke and the reason is because my mother let me name him. I wanted to name him Hans Solo but my mother wouldn’t let me so I settled for Luke Skywalker and she shortened it to Luke. (True story).
I spaced this last week but someone was nice enough to email me the Flickr-folio of Bulgarian designer Kliment Kalchev. He has some great work in his book that comes ready to inspire.
Marius Watz is another one of those rare half-breed coder/artists who has somehow been able to merge mathmatics with art. Consequently, there is some really beautiful imagery of strange and unusual random beauty generated from zeros and ones in his Flickr-folio.

I have mentioned Olly Moss and his work here before but I was notified this week that he is the originator of the old school Penguin book cover/poster idea. M S Corley revised some of his favorite books as retro Penguin classics and each and every cover is a unique and inspiring work of graphic design. Good stuff.

I finished my Omega Code poster today and sent it off to their open call for submissions. I was super impressed with what people were creating and really wanted to be a part of it. I designed the poster to specs, sized at B1 (close to 24 x 36 inches) at 300 dpi. There were close to 80 layers in and it weighed in at almost 7 gigs. Photoshop wouldn’t even allow me to save it at one point so I had to go back through and crunch everything just to be able to save it.
I actually really like their music and wanted to create something a little darker that suggested mysticism. I felt like something like that was really appropriate for their sound. A lot of my work used to slant to the darkside, and I have lightened up a lot in the last few years. Mellowing with age I guess but I still remember my rock days of lore. So when called upon I can bring the heavy metal thunder.
Carly Elizabeth Schmitt has created some really cool paintings and drawings that she has on display through her Flickr account. I stumbled upon them somehow today and got stuck on her work right away.
Stumbled across the Flickr page of Like Minded Studio today only to discover it was fully loaded with raw awesomeness. Good Lord do those boys know how to shine on the steez. Their work kicks ass. There I said it.
