Pete McDonald has been toiling away for some time at Buck, a studio that I have always respected especially considering some of the fantastic work they produced for us while I was at Cactus for the Own Your C campaign. The talent at Buck runs from floor to ceiling and even seeps all the way into the walls. Apparently Pete has recently decided to have a go at a freelance designer, illustrator and motionographer and as would be expected with someone who has worked for Buck, he has some nice work in his portfolio. Be sure to click through some of great drawings in McDonald’s sketchbook as well.

Brooklyn-based Triboro Design consists of Stefanie Weigler and David Heasty. They recently produced a variation of the famous New York City subway map. The map was printed in only one color: Florescent red. The poster was offset printed in a limited edition run of only 300 prints. I am not sure where you can buy one but I would very much like to get my hands one on (or two). If you know where to get one, leave me a comment. I appreciate it.

Lundgren Lindqvist is a bureau sort of. They live, breath, work, talk and love design. That is probably good considering their chosen occupation. They are based out of Gothenburg, Sweden. They believe ‘good design is good business’ and I think that is a pretty damn clever statement right there.

ODD was founded in 2002 by Nick Stickland and Simon Glover and has offices in Clerkenwell, London. They have just relaunched their website and stocked it with a stunning body of work. The presentation of the website itself is top notch and immediately jumps the viewer into their spectacular portfolio.

Design and creative think tank, Tronic has relaunched their website with several new projects.
Here is what they have to say of themselves:
“Tronic was founded by Jesse Seppi and Vivian Rosenthal, graduates of Columbia University’s School of Architecture. Our work moves between - and marks a convergence of - animation, architecture, and experiential and interactive design. Our goal is to explore the overlapping conditions of these fields through creativity and technology.”
I wondered about the background in architecture because to be absolutely frank, I was totally blown away by their installation designs. Every project is breathtaking in it’s result. But then again, that is only one subsection of a truly amazing body of work. Tronic is so much more than the regular design or ad firm. I can only imagine how far they will go in the future and how hard they will push the future.

Creative think tank and all around experimental explorers Friends With You recently updated their site. The site was built by Boulder, Colorado’s Quick Left and has a number of notable upgrades including an expanded storefront. The site presents a rich interactive experience without utilizing Flash and apparently offers up a dummy-proof CMS system that gives Friends With You the hassle-free ability to update content whenever they like. It’s a lot like what I am aiming for with the development of my new site.

Young Brazilian designer Nelson Balaban has updated with some maravilloso new work. I like that he is staying away from boxing himself in with a specific style and approaching each project as a unique and individual effort. It makes you harder to define or single out but I think that is the way of the future. He also has work up at both Flickr and Behance for you to check out.

Just found Studio Anti, the work of an ex designer at Meta Design and Wolff Olins I love the typographic styling of his work, and by coincidence he did the identity for No. 74 an Adidas concept store I visited whilst out in Berlin.

Anck is the work of 20-year-old (yeah, I know) Graphic Designer and Junior Art Director Renaud Futterer who currently works for HKI (Hellohikimori) design studio in Paris. As to be expected, it’s a slick website that starts out a little loud but there is some attractive work in the portfolio and considering Futterer’s age, nothing but amazing things will no doubt be pouring out of this young talent in the future. He is a member of the next generation of designer, illustrator, motion designer, 3D animator and web developer in the way that he can do all of the above and do them all very well. Guys like this make my old-ass sweat.

LA-based designer, illustrator and artist Demetrius May has some sincerely radical work in one of the more wild portfolios I have seen in some time. There are some very strange things going on in his work but it is all art and I love that. He graduated in 2008 with a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts, Illustration from the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California. Since then, he has been making, like I said, some seriously radical work. It will be interesting to see what he does in the future.

I recently had the pleasure of going to see the GF Smith travelling exhibition of their promotional print material. Collected over a span of 111 years it’s an amazing and inspirational collection. The exhibition will be traveling around UK Universities this year.

The Church of London, the creative agency behind Little White Lies and HUCK magazines has updated with a new website and a comprehensive update to their portfolio. As good as their publications are, it should come as no surprise that they have some great work in their portfolio.
