Notes On Design has posted an interview with one-time-Denverite and personal friend Celeste Prevost. I think Celeste was my first MySpace friend back when people still actually used MySpace. Celeste recently relaunched her personal portfolio site where she labors under the name Design Is Fine. It most certainly is under hand as well. She was by far one of the most talented young designers I had ever met in Denver and had an unbridled passion for art and design that was genuinely infectious. When she left for greener (or snowier) pastures in Minneapolis, her absence was mourned by the local creative community.
She is married to another talented Denver-expat Rob Angermuller who works under the name Lifter Baron. Rob is a fantastic talent as well. Congratulations on the recent projects Celeste. I miss you both.
My friend Rob A.K.A. ‘Lifterbaron‘, who used to live in Denver but now calls Minneapolis home, has updated with a new website. It’s great to see some new work in his book and I am still sorely missing him and his wonderful Mrs. here at home. Come back home Rob.
One of our very own Editors, who you will notice, ever-so-often writing a little something here or there on the site is Rob AKA | Lifterbaron. Rob is an extremely talented young man with a bright future ahead of him who is located in the central design-mecca of Minneapolis. He just put a little more work up at his site. He is currently scouting either fulltime or freelance opportunities in Minneapolis. Have a browse through some of the new work at his site, and if you are in the market for a few good men, send him an email. Expect to see his bio in the about section of the site soon where you will be able to read more about him and his many talents.
Celeste, in my humble opinion, is one of the best young local designers we ‘had’ in this city and now she is going the way of the birds. It is a shame really because she is genuinely talented. She is talented enough that two former high-up creatives from Fallon saw her goods and decided to take her in at their new shop, Zeus Jones in Minneapolis. Sadder still, she is taking her boyfriend Rob with her who was also very talented and works under the name Lifter Baron.
Its sad that you hear a lot of low-murmur whining in the Denver advertising and design community about the lack of talent and jobs available here, and that there is ‘not really much going on’. Then when we do have some raw talent here just waiting to create an impact, we let it go to somewhere else that apparently ‘is happening’.
Someone should have nabbed Celeste when they had the chance. She will truly be missed by those of us who know from firsthand experience just how far she may go.
