Grace Jones – Corporate Cannibal

Comments Off on Grace Jones – Corporate CannibalMusic, video

You have to give it up to Grace Jones. The woman’s got grit.

Released in 2008 off her album Hurricane, Corporate Cannibal pretty much sums up the scene in America that has defined our era. “You’re my life support. Your life is my sport.” I fully expect Grace to be cranking it out well into retirement age and giving me chills.

Toro Y Moi – You Hid

Comments Off on Toro Y Moi – You HidMusic, video

Sometimes you come across so much good stuff all at once it’s hard to know where to look. Such is the case with this little treasure over at yourstru.ly, an oh-so-very SF music and film blog that features the work of my new art crush, Heidi Petty. Also based in San Francisco, Petty’s work is a great aesthetic blend of woolly film stock and digital, although the stand out is this intimate piece for Toro Y Moi, aka Chazwick Bundick (seriously?).Mr. Bundick’s music is on pretty heavy rotation here at the CTT studio. That chillwave vibe was definitely the trend of 2010, but damn it melts your core. So check the vid, give a nod to Brian Wilson, the originator of multi-layered chill and enjoy some good old fashioned music and video.

RATATAT – NECKBRACE

Comments Off on RATATAT – NECKBRACEMusic, video

Off of their 4th LP titled LP4 (what else) from XL Recordings, Ratatat’s own Evan Mast, aka E*vax, delivers a totally stupid surreal bit of awesomeness starring Fellini, Mike Stroud’s pet parakeet. The band is currently on tour in Australia…stay dry, Fellini.

Daft Punk – Derezzed

Comments Off on Daft Punk – DerezzedMusic

Here it is, the official Daft Punk music video for ‘Derezzed’, the first single off the Tron Legacy Soundtrack. If you haven’t seen the film, I give it 2 thumbs down on the writing, 2 thumbs up on visuals and 4 thumbs up on the Daft Punk soundtrack. I was really impressed by the soundtrack specifically. It sincerely elevated my opinion of Daft Punk several pegs up. It carries the movie in a notable way.

Robyn – Indestructable

Comments Off on Robyn – IndestructableMusic

“Robyn’s ‘Indestructible’ music video showcases a project that started over two years ago generating dynamic textiles made from liquid, air and vapor. 1.2 kilometres of transparent plumbing tubing was knitted with fishing wire to skin Robyn’s body.

40 litres of glycerol pumps through over a kilometre of tube, powered by drill pumps that connect to valves releasing air intermittently between the liquid. Gradient colors pulse through the tubes at different speeds, the effect is a living, breathing dynamic skin that traverses the landscape of the body.”

My good friend Ryan Bramwell who is a Partner at Denver based motion design agency Spillt pulled out all the stops over the past several months with the help of several friends to piece together this pet project for Mc Subcon and Kam Moye. 130 custom made Photoshop brushes were used along with captured footage and a little Cinema 4D were used to animate this music video. It’s a truly local project utilizing all Denver talent across the board from music to motion integration.

Tame Impala – Expectation

Comments Off on Tame Impala – ExpectationMusic

Tame Impala took a day off of their European tour to allow director Clemens Habicht to arm himself with a 360° camera in a forest just outside of Paris to shoot this video. I have to admit that since their EP came out, Tame Impala has been high on my list of favorite bands. Yes they sound a little bit like a psychedelic version of The Beatles but that description/comparison shouldn’t detour you but make you think about 2 things that are inarguably awesome and those two things are psychedelia and The Beatles. I had a chance to see them at Red Rocks this summer while they were opening for MGMT and I felt like I was one of the only people paying attention to them as they performed a stripped down yet fantastic sounding set. Keep your eye on these guys because simply put they kick ass.

If you need any creative, another music video or illustrations for your next album Tame Impala, we would proudly be your Huckleberry. We have a special affinity for drinking beer with Australians as luck would have it as well.

Director Kristoffer Borgli takes us on a bit of a surreal acid trip with the help of cinematographer Håvard Byrkjeland for the single ‘Wander’ by Heartfelt. The dark visuals accompanied by the sometimes ‘up’ music create some serious tension.

Comments Off on All Around and Away We GoMusic

‘All Around and Away We Go’ is a new single by Twin Sister. The hip little video affair above was directed by Mike Luciano and is a total throwback that had me ready to get into my ‘Buffalo Stance’. The song is very nice whether your a fan of the video style or not.
