This 10th anniversary self promotional animation for Record Makers is straight up bootylicious. It’s an adjective that so rarely applies but in this case it is positively apropos.

Mike Barzman shot this experimental video at 1800 frames per second. I cannot claim to know exactly what he was trying to accomplish or say by shooting it, as he did not enlighten me via his email but I must admit that I found it fun to watch.
Here is the latest from the man everyone loves to hate Kanye West for the single ‘Coldest Winter’. It’s a slick video which is to be expected, and I am going to let you finish watching it but I just want to say that Beyonce has one of the greatest videos of all time.

Evan Owen Dennis wrote in to let me know about a new music video he directed for the band The Antlers for their single ‘Bear’ off of the album ‘Hospice’. It’s a great video for a great band. The album isn’t new but the video is, possibly because more people have come around to the band this year after the albums reception last year.

“This video was made by Steffen Bygebjerg in 2009 for the song “End Scene”. The track is taken from Troels Abrahamsen’s album WHT also from 2009.
The animation work was made in Adobe After Effects. Each frame was then printed and the print was subsequently scanned back into the computer. The scanned frames were then assembled back into the original animation, now with a new rugged look, created by the visit in the physical analogue world. No effects added after scanning.”
Daniel Warwick directed this video for Fettes Brot which kind of reminds me of something you would have seen in the 80’s for Devo. Minus the amazing vivid color, art direction and super stylized sets of course. The whole video is pretty strange and I am not entire sure what the aim was but it is definitely entertaining.
This is from Madder Mortem’s forthcoming release ‘Where Dream & Day Collide’, coming May 10th, 2010. There is some amazing 3D animation going on here not to mention some artfully crafted matte painting.

This is the video that was released several months back for the single ‘Desert Song’ from Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros. The video is part of a 12 part rock opera video series released by the band entitled ‘SALVO!’ The videos are directed by Benjamin Kutsko and Cory Marrero. These aren’t new but I only recently was turned onto the band and I seriously just can’t stop listening to them. They are fantastic and worth looking into if you haven’t yet.

I am really digging both the video and the song ‘Heaven Can Wait’ from Charlotte Gainsbourg who sings in duo with Beck (who looks like he could use a little sun and an extra meal or two).
Hi everyone, my photo blog Them Thangs is back at a new URL, if you’re into that sort of thing. Maybe you didn’t even know it was gone.. either way …enjoy!
This is the music video for “Belong”, off High Times (Mirror Universe; 2009). It was directed by Blake Salzman.
Here is the official music video for the single “Stars” by Warpaint, taken from the ‘Exquisite Corpse EP’ (released on Manimal Vinyl). The video was filmed in the ashes of the Angeles National Forest.

I stumbled upon Hugo & Marie’s Behance-folio this morning and was treated to some really exceptional posters recently completed for the latest album release of superpower-hippy-jam-band Phish. There are several posters completed by different artists and illustrators under the Hugo & Marie umbrella, all of which are expertly accomplished.
After you finish checking out the posters you can also head over to the Hugo & Marie website to take a look at the portfolio of their newly added illustrator Jules Julien.
Look at this horse. This horse is amazing. Don’t make me show you where the lemonade is made. The sweet sweet lemonade. Shut up and get on the horse.
Seattle-based design powerhouse Invisible Creature has relaunched and updated with more and more and more spectacular work that is genuinely inspirational. They really know what they are doing and are at the top of their game. It’s rare that art and design meld so perfectly that you have a hard time distinguishing where one ends and the other begins.
Video by Niles Atallah, Cristobal Leon & Joaquin Cociña. Luis is the 2nd short video of the series “Lucía, Luis y el lobo” (”Lucía, Luis and the Wolf”), it is a follow-up to the short video Lucía. The video was shot frame by frame with a digital photo camera. Materials: charcoal, dirt, flowers, found objects and cardboard.
Here is the new Chromeo video for their Green Label Sound single, “Night By Night.” You can download the track for free at GreenLabelSound.com. I gotta be perfectly honest, I love Chromeo and have since I first played them on my car stereo. You can’t miss when you put them on at a party.
29 years ago today this news shocked the world:
“On the night of 8 December 1980, at around 10:50 pm, Mark David Chapman shot Lennon in the back four times in the entrance of the Dakota apartment building. Earlier that evening, Lennon had autographed a copy of Double Fantasy for Chapman who had been stalking Lennon since October.“
It’s true that we kill our prophets and Lennon was no exception. As Lennon traveled the road of fame and fortune he began to see the world for what it was. An entire generation awakened with him realizing that the world must be changed. Although the tide rose toward genuine social and spiritual change in the 60’s, that wave rolled back never quite reaching the shore.
Lennon’s memory lives on and his dreams of peace can still be realized by our generation. It’s not too late. We just have to want it and act.
Rest in peace John. Your memory lives on.
