Robert Hodgin AKA Flight 404 was tasked by Wired to create an opening animation for the iPad version of their magazine. The issue number was 18:08 and the number served as the crux of the piece. You can see the final version here but I am actually more a fan of the earlier version which can be seen above. You can’t go wrong with Hodgin’s amazing work. The music was provided by Tim Stutt. You can read more about the process involved in the creation of the animations at Hodgin’s website.
I find it rather ironic that if you really want to see and appreciate the quality and color of these animations, you have to watch them on Vimeo, which in my opinion from a quality standpoint is heads above YouTube but Vimeo isn’t supported by iPad or iPhone.

Radiohead has partnered with Aniboom and is currently holding a contest to create a 1 minute animated video using any of the songs off of Radiohead’s current album, In Rainbows. Robert Hodgin from Flight 404 decided to toss his hat in the ring with the beautiful bit of animation created with Processing above.
05/18 SENDAK PASSES The brilliant author and illustrator Maurice Sendak passed away last week at the age of 83 but will no doubt be remembered for generations to come for his amazing books such as Where the Wild Things Are.

12/16 HITCHENS DIES Outspoken author and pundit Christopher Hitchens passed away yesterday at the age of 62 after succombing to a long battle with cancer. His honest and bravado opinion that rarely favored one side versus the other but was instead often a cry for ‘reason’ will be missed.
11/23 BURZYNKSI CLINIC Is there an alternative, non-toxic treatment for cancer? Dr. Stanislaw R. Burzynski seems to think so and has been experiencing higher rate of success than the current accepted practice of treating cancer.
