NIN

Just a month or two ago, Nine Inch Nails released an instrumental/experimental album online, for free. Now, a short time later, they’re thanking everyone who supported and downloaded that album, with another one - The Slip. This time a full lyrical album, but still all yours for free.

As a thank you to our fans for your continued support, we are giving away the new nine inch nails album one hundred percent free, exclusively via nin.com.

The music is available in a variety of formats including high-quality MP3, FLAC or M4A lossless at CD quality and even higher-than-CD quality 24/96 WAVE. Your link will include all options - all free. All downloads include a PDF with artwork and credits.

For those of you interested in physical products, fear not. We plan to make a version of this release available on CD and vinyl in July. Details coming soon.

Furthermore, The Slip is licensed under a creative commons attribution non-commercial share alike license. They even encourage you to “remix it, share it with your friends, post it on your blog, play it on your podcast, give it to strangers, etc.”

Whether you like NIN or not, you gotta commend their “sticking it to the man” and distributing and selling their own music. And so far they’ve been nice enough to share it with everyone, for free. It’s pretty unheard of for a band as big as they are to do this type of thing, but it seems to be a trend that’s catching on and will hopefully continue.

Oh, and along with the free music download comes a 14-page PDF, with artwork for each track. Nicely done.
